Pierre Lavoie was born on December 17, 1963 in the beautiful village of L’Anse-St-Jean and has lived in la Baie, Saguenay Lac-St-Jean for over 30 years. Pierre and his wife, Lynne Routhier, have four children. Their 21-year-old son Bruno-Pierre is in excellent health. However, their first daughter Laurie, who was born in 1993, died of lactic acidosis at the age of four. Their second son, Raphaël was born in 1998; sadly he also passed away in 2000 at the tender age of 20 months. Pierre and his wonderful wife are the proud parents of Joly-Ann, born January on 16, 2004, and is the picture of health.

The exceptional journey of this humble man is a fascinating story that transcends borders. An honest factory worker, former smoker and idealist, he adapted his lifestyle to become a dedicated athlete and father. His transformation was as spectacular as the sunrise on the Fjord where he trains every day with unparalleled determination.
